Note: I’ve used the default settings for Bollinger Bands which is 20-period moving average and 2 standard deviations for the upper and lower bands. So, what is standard deviation? Well, it basically measures how far you’re away from the average. Inside means, total bars closed between 2 standard deviation; up side means, total bars closed above the upper band and down side means, total bars closed below the lower band. Now what we see here’s the “PAST” statistics of standard Bollinger Bands. Feel free to change settings. For example, you can set one standard deviation with 200 SMA. Bollinger Bands reflect direction with the 20-period SMA and volatility with the upper/lower bands. As such, they can be used to determine if prices are relatively high or low.
